Ok, Over the past few weeks, Ive been obessessed with finding treatments for Acne and so far this is what I found (Ill add some info that I have had personal experience with too):

About me: 25 asian male. Eat fairly well. No junk food. Lots of water for the most part. Oily skin, bad cystic acne up until I used accutane. Now I still get occasional combination acne and still oily skin- some cystic some not. Up until recently. Read on:

Products:
Clearasil 10% Benzoyl Peroxide:
Good for acne, but acne develops a resistance to it over time.
Personal experience: I used 10% Benzoyl Peroxide (clearisil) and it wasnt that potent at all... Unless you use it while using other stuff like B5 I guess.

Proactiv:
Wide range of results. For some people great- for others, its just ok, and for people like me, it messed up my skin.

Personal experience: Didnt have a bad acne problem before using this... Then I bought it and I used it for approximately a month with no problems. Then one day, I broke out like crazy. This was the beginning of my major acne problem in years. I wouldnt use it again. Not worth the money unless it makes your skin completely clear.

Pantothenic Acid (b5): Studies shows its potency after taking 10 grams for 3-6 months... It is very effective for most people but not all.

Personal Experience: 10 grams is extremely costly. Usually they sell it in 500mg which means you would have to take 20 pills a day! Once you get off of it, acne comes back so you have to keep it up. I actually never tried it til today-- I went to GNC to buy other stuff so I thought Id by a bottle and try it. I only took 1 gram today because I cant afford to take 20 of these. But I took it around 330 in the afterto inform and I feel my skin tightening and my face clearing up already. Not sure if this is related to B5 but I will keep you updated... (Ive been shoveling snow all day so meanwhile thats whats making my skin feel tighter)

Accutane: One of the most effective treatments.
Personal Experience: Took this approximately 6 years ago and it virtually eliminated my really bad acne. It was great! Probably the best treatment I have ever used for acne! The only side effects I remember are dry lips and skin. They say it causes depression, but so does bad acne! I dont remember being depressed anyway. However, recently, when I bought Proactiv I feared the acne coming back...

Benzac: Effective for spot treatments.
Personal experience: I used this just to keep the one or two pimples off my face a year or two after my accutane treatment was complete. Turned pimples into whiteheads fast and therefore eliminated them quickly.

Tea Tree Oil:
Personal experience: Potent stuff! It did kill a lot of the acne but not without costing me dry skin. For some people it might not be worth the dryness. However, it was an emergency situation and I wanted to be rid of pimples at all costs. bought this last thursday and used it constantly and its approximately 5 days later and most of the pimples are gone but a lot of heavy red spots and dry skin that replaced it.

A product with 2% salicylic acid: Like Benzoyl P. It is less effective the more you use it because you develop an immunity against it.
Personal Experience: it was a product that was applied to spots overnight and then washed off next morning. Semi effective. It kinda helped in making the pimples develop faster and therefore be gone faster, but benzac was more effective when I first started using it.

Visine: They say it helps to reduce redness if you put it on a pimple.
Personal experience: BS! at least for me.

Toothpaste: Helps in reducing pimples.
My experience: Not as effective as real medicine

Ok.... So thats it.
If my acne persists, I am going to try Topical Niacinamide Cream. I have been doing research on it and it seems like its the best topical treatment by far. If anyone has tried this and had a great experience with it, please post...
